I don't ever play tag games (except now!)

Posted on Nov 22nd, 2008 by Centria : Full Moon Centria
I never play tag games.  So whenever you catch yourself saying anything like "I never play tag games" or "I never do this" or "I never do that".....what is there to do but turn it around and do it?   :)

So Liza tags me this morning with the Gratitude Five (or whatever it's called) last night.  I think you're suppose to play this on Friday.  It's Saturday morning now.  That should be enough reason to say, "no thanks, won't play."  But when the Mind starts thinking things like that, it's enough reason to play.  So here goes!

1) What are you thankful for today?
I am thankful for sensations today.  Human existence.  The way the fingers feel on the keyboard.  The hum of the wood-stove in the basement.  The warmth in our small cabin in the woods.  Pajamas.  Flannel sheets (even though they're not on the bed yet, I'm just happy they exist when we need 'em.)  My daughter being home for awhile.  Drinking two cups of coffee with my husband and re-connecting with him.  Words.  When there's no need for words.  What exists beneath and around words.  Being able to remember that, sometimes.

2) What do you appreciate about the Earth?
Rocks.  Beauty.  Sunsets.  Sunrises.  (or is that being appreciative of the sun?)  Trees.  Especially the stark beauty of winter trees, when the leaves have fallen, and the branches etch against the horizon.  Snow.  No snow.  The way the seasons change and help us realize the shifting nature of Life.  The way the Earth can mirror something essential back to us.  The way the Earth doesn't need us.  Except maybe it does....hmmmm.....I appreciate that the Earth doesn't seem to get confused.  It just IS.

3) Who is the last person you said "thank you" to?
Oh no!  What if I haven't said thank you to anyone lately?  Buzzer rings!  You flunked this quiz.  You flunked life.  You haven't said thank you recently.  At least your memory can't pull it up in the last 24 hours.  I mean I remember saying Thank You lots & lots in Europe.  I have been in a huge gratitude place lately.  But have I said thank you since returning home?  Was that even a conscious thought?  Ohmygod.....well, let's start anew.  Thank you for whoever created this game.  Thank you to Liza for sending it.  Thank you for the reminder to thank.

4) When was the last time someone thanked you?
I think Peace Seeker thanked me last night after our phone conversation.  Michael thanked me in a grapevine because I liked his icon.

5) What is your favorite way to say thank you?
My favorite way to say thank you is to live in gratitude.  To appreciate the juicy, painful, beautiful, awful, lovely, ecstatic, incredible ways life moves in its birth canal.  To remember to be grateful for even things that hurt, or things that challenge.  To be aware of the gifts that may arise from the challenges as well as the joys.  And, then of course, to put words to that gratitude.  Here's what the gratitude is saying right now:  Thank you all for everything you do to make Gaia and the world a shining star.  Thank you!

P.S.  Anybody who reads this is tagged....not necessarily to write a blog.....but to pause in that gratitude place for a few moments and open your heart even wider.  :)

Like you Kathy, this was the first tag game I succumbed to on Gaia. I decided to play because the person who tagged me (Kris) is a relatively new friend, and there were only 5 questions.

Enjoyed reading your answers. I learned something about you:-)

I knew you'd play with me.  This is the first for me as well..   There is so much love and gratitude flowing when I come here.

It's Saturday morning.. having coffee but we're out of anything dairy, anything soy. no more rice milk..  black is ok too, i guess..  This little piggy is off to the market.

The coffee in Europe is so divinely good, isn't it?  Even their pain au chocolat (chocolate croissant)..   unbeatable.  These are my cravings this morning.  A good espresso and pastries hot off the oven.

Thank you Kathy for always brightening my days and for listening to my little ramblings this morning.

Ciao Bella!

Sweet Heart,

Lucienne whispers …THANK YOU…..

Really, Centria, I thoroughly enjoy your blogs! Even a call to play a tag game becomes a wonderous event and a chance to ponder when you touch your fingers to the keyboard.

Jeff, it's fun to listen to what the Mind has to say & sometimes do things differently, just to mix things up a bit.  Thanks for reading and calling the answers “wondrous”.  Jeff, you are wondrous….

Janet, yesterday after writing this I proceeded to get kind of sick for the day.  I remember thinking, in the midst of the sickness, “what did Janet mean she learned something about me?”  You know how the Thoughts get kind of crazy when you're not feeling well.   Here's three words for you:  Liking you lots.

Liza, dear, how wonderful to stop by & just share your morning rambles.  Sometimes it's the simple things that are so interesting.  Like the fact you were out of dairy and soy milk and such.  You want a little story?  We have a town near us called Marquette.  So when we played “this little piggy” I would always say, “This little piggy went to Marquette.”  versus market.  Although, come to think of it, if the piggy was going to Marquette she was definitely going to market as well.  Anyway….hope you have something for your coffee this morning.    Oh, and the chocolate croissants were heavenly….   However, I think my gall bladder is paying for the ten days of indulging in Europe….  :(

Hi Lucienne!  I had to remember those words yesterday when the pain in my gall bladder got so bad.  And upon arising this morning I thought of all the gifts that came out of that day of sickness.  There were really a lot of gifts.  whispering back….THANK YOU, also.

AmberLou, you pay such lovely compliments.  I am sorry I haven't come over to comment on the economy after your invitation.  Sending you a big hug and feeling gratitude for your essence and sharing here on Gaia.  Blessings, girlfriend!

First I think, which was probably my initial problem, What the hell kind of deal is this, eh?  People can't just draft innocent readers.  And then I come over here and see that nobody has even followed the simple rules.  What kinda group of adult people cain't follow the simple rules of tag?  I'm tellin' ya!

I just wanna thank ALL of YOU for ALL of THIS!

Now I am trapped in the “Answer-Don't-Answer” dilemma.

It's like having another junior high school flashback every time I wander around here at Gaia.  It's as though them “insightful comment, friend invitation” things weren't enough, now I must puzzle over whether, or not, to answer the tag questions, or risk collapse of the entire known Universe by breaking the chain.

Do I have to send this to 1352 of MY closest friends?

Oh Rich….let's risk the collapse of the entire known Universe and break the chain!!  Let's not send it on to a single friend.  Let's answer if we want to and not answer if we don't.  Let's not follow a single simple rule!  Let's make up our own games as we go!  Let's….let's…..let's…..live in the Moment and let the Moment decide.

Big smile.  :)   Thank you for your humor this fine Sunday afternoon!

How lovely….very grand things to be grateful for, the simple, the eveyrday is the best!

I agree with flannel sheets! Woohooo!!!

I am grateful to come here when I can, write words of love to you and others and find so much beauty in reading others words of love and wisdom…

And so I humbly bow to you.

Awww, Aley, I am really grateful when you stop by & offer your comments, as well.  Do you have your flannel sheets on yet, or is it still too warm out there in the Northwest?  I think, for all our ideas and thoughts, we do so often “hang our gratitude” on the doorknob of very simple living.  That's what somehow counts.  Love you too,  Kathy
